4th Commandment Explained

4th Commandment Explained

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God."

There is an enormous amount of evidence available just on the internet as well as in many other places to say that our modern SATURDAY is the 7th Day, Sabbath. Areas of the Bible point to the Sabbath beginning at sunset on a Friday evening and continues through till sunset on the Saturday. If you do not Rest, Study and Worship during this time EVERY WEEK, you are direct violation of this ommandment.

"In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates."

This part speaks for itself really. Do NO work, nor get anyone around you to do any work. Some take this commandment to extremes by suggesting that simply turning on a light is forbidden, most others would suggest that simply not doing your "normal" weekday activities is all that's forbidden. If your resting, studying and worshipping, what else would you have time for? How can you study in the dark?!

"For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it."

God tells us here that HE rested after doing HIS weeks work and so made the day Holy, if it's good enough for HIM, its good enough for me.
